1 Year Old

Dear Isaiah Michael Purdom,

A year ago Friday my Mom was flying to the states to help with my Sister-In-Law Leah's (your mom's) birth. We got the text and the pictures.

Aren't you just the cutest?! Well, you didn't stay like that... the little part I mean, you're still as cute as can be. :)

[ Here's some pictures: Disclaimer: Beholder may have severe cute attacks and randomly say "Aww" because of such preciousness. ]

:D

You're such a little man.

You love Skyping with your Aunty Naomi. :)

Agh! You little boy make me smile and laugh so much!!

You play boo. You laugh SO hard and think it's just the funniest thing when you take your hands off of your eyes and we say BOO!! :)

*die of cuteness*

You love your Daddy. :)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BUDDY!!! <3

Snuggle time. :)

Needless to say I am one proud Auntie. :)
Funny Story: Your Mama and Baba have been doing a little bit of ASL with you, and the first time you did a flawless "Please" you found you had a collar!! So you spent the next ten minutes tugging and jabbering and showing them your collar. hehe precious boy. :)

They are doing so good with you. I am so proud. I know you will grow up to be a Christian man like your daddy. :)

I love you my punkin man!!! :)

Ooh, you need a makeover!!

Our room here in Trinidad was... well imagine pretty old (yellowed), stained white walls, and sleeping on poor worn out pillowcases. It was time for a change:

We painted the walls aqua-blue, and of course kept our tradition of hanging Christmas lights in our room, or "romantical lights" as they are fondly called. :)

I made new curtains. You can't see them too well, sorry, but they are kinda like Roman Curtains. I put rings on the back and a tie through them, and we just pull 'em up and tie them to the bars on the windows. As you can see, through the one that's down, the sun shines through the stripes on the back, and that with the lights gives it a really colorful happy affect.

The inside is just black with white floral stuff. It helps with the lights at night, we all love sleeping in dark dark. :)

Anna and I sleep in the top of our two bunk beds. (On air mattresses-Prettty nice! :D) She wanted a new pillowcase, and of course, being myself, I ran away with it and coordinated her whole bed. lol
(Notice the canopies? No, they are NOT princess canopies. They are mosquito nets. aka lifesavers. aka the only reason I go to bed..... well that stretches it a little bit, but you get the picture! hehe!)

She loves red and black.
Black bottom sheet, red top sheet.
The big pillow is two-sided. (Hobby Lobby fabric)
The small one "ties it all together." (Walmart in Monett, MO fabric)

She thinks I'm a little over exuberant about it and laughed when I asked her if I could blog about it, but I don't care! ha! hehe :)

Now mine:
I love blue and brown, especially with a little orange and bright colors to spice it up!
(I love the whole room too, obviously. ;)

Light blue sheets.

Big pillow: brown with all colored stripes. (JoAnns fabric)
Snuggle pillow: one side blue with floral (Hobby Lobby fabric).....

The other side: brown with blue and green polka dots. (JoAnns fabric once again.)

And of course topped with mosquito net. :)
I really love it all except the lime green blanket. (We live in the Caribbean: Anna sleeps warm even with her fan, and I still get cold with my fan.) It's great except for the color! Whoops! haha!

I have had SO much fun over the past six months of completely redoing our room. Especially all the sewing, that has been right up my alley. :)

Tell me what you think: the colors too crazy? What are y'alls rooms like?
Hope you all have a wonderful day!
:)

In Trinidad Once Again...

Howdy folks!

I know my dear blog has been dreadfully neglected, we have been so busy!

We are now back in Trinidad after 8 weeks of Furlough. Thanks to all of you who helped us and kept us in your prayers. It was lots of fun! We got to spend a lot of time with family, and see precious friends.

We went to seven different states, several supporting congregations, and even got to go to PTP for four days. It was very uplifting and encouraging.

I did graduate and had a super fun party, so this next year will be new for me. I'm excited. :)

Another post hopefully coming soon! :)

Hope you have a wonderful day!

Prayer Request

This afternoon I would like you to please take a moment and pray for a dear friend of ours. His name is Trovel Emmanuel. He was a student at the School of Preaching, and just graduated Sunday. He is a faithful Christian who loves the Lord and his work.
He is having surgery today that is rather serious, and would appreciate all the prayers on his behalf.

Yeah, he's cool. A real good friend. :)

On another note, Wade, Leah, and Isaiah got here safely yesterday afternoon. We are enjoying them SO much. :)

Have a wonderful day.

100 days

I don't know if everybody has heard about this, but a Brother has put together a scripture reading schedule for the summer. It's really great. I, and my family, are really enjoying it. It actually started on Sunday, and it goes for 100 days, until Labour Day. This is day three so it's not too late to start! Join with us and read through the New Testament in 100 days!
The schedule is here.
Hope you have a great day!

Friday's Factual Randomosity

1. I love children. I can't wait to have a family of my own.

2. I have a super cute nephew...well, it's true! And he has the most contagious grin...AH! Sorry. :) ...AND they are coming down to see us in June the 5th. :D I am one excited Aunty!

3. I am left eye dominant, so I shoot left handed.

4. I walk in time to music. So if I am ever blessed to be married, I will probably walk in beat. Even if it is halftime! And if Maria (Julie Andrews) in Sound of Music did it, then I can too! Ha!

5. In the song "Soul and Inspiration" by the Righteous Brothers, when they say,  "Baby, I can't make it withoutcha. And I'm, I'm tellin' ya, honey, you're my reason for laughin', for cryin', for livin', and for dyin'." I like to add "And for freezin' and for fryin'!" :D

6. It's so frustrating when you are sewing and the head of your pin comes off while you're trying to take it out.

7. I did it. I got some fabric, and went out on a limb and just DID it! ... I made an orange, with white polkadots, skirt! :) I'm in love!

8. I wonder if the guys in "Man from Snowy River" got wind burn from filming the riding? lol

9. My joints crack a lot. Like a lot.

10. I can't wait to be done with school. Then I can just be a stay-at-home daughter. :)

11. We sleep under mosquito nets. What a lifesaver! (But I like Jolly Ranchers better, so "What a Jolly Rancher!")

12. I can't go to sleep without chap stick on.

13. I always check behind all shower curtains. Everywhere, anytime- I've been jumped out at and scared way too many times!!

Have a great weekend! :)

Truth

You know you've been doing too much algebra when you're sitting at the lunch table, checking all the problems, and you say "Five x over squared" instead of "Five x over two." It's true.

Even when your Mom just busts up laughing. Oh well...hehe!

A cool song

Miles got me hooked on this band, Alphaville. It. Is. Awesome. :) I know it's an older group, but the oldies are the best, ent?

This one, The Jet Set, has been in my head quite a bit lately.

Have a great Tuesday! :)

Friday's Factual Randomness

1. I chop vegetables in time to music.

2. I am right handed but left foot dominant.

3. Mangos are in season. I am one happy girl. :)

4. I like climbing trees and wading in creeks...and swinging. I could swing for hours.

5. Miles is awesome.

6. I am reading Dracula. I'm a little freaked...but I have this curiosity in an insane way. I can hardly put it down.

7. I think anything and everything is super silly when I get to a certain stage of tiredness. My brothers love to take advantage of me. Believe me. It's NOT that silly!

8. Thirteen is my favorite number.

9. I love to make fun of Orlando Bloom. :D

10. I love to go out on the fields and do campaign work. There is just something so drawing and wonderful in spreading the Gospel.

11. I have never been a bridesmaid before. When I was little I used to worry that I could never get married because I have three older sisters, and "Three times a bridesmaid never a bride." haha!

12. I read a lot. I really enjoy books. :)

13. I get cold very easily. Like yesterday it got down to 77 with rain and breeze...and I put on my jacket and socks. :) It felt real good!

There you go! Have a great weekend! :)

April = A new frame of...glasses.

In February of 2010 I had to get reading glasses. They're nice, right?

But then my eyes stopped liking them so much...talk about headaches!

So, we heard of a really nice place down here, some of the brethren recommend it. So here we go! I branched out and got black rimmed glasses. No nose pads, and *gasp* they have bling.

Eyes feeling much better. :)

Ah! Can you believe it!? Bling! I really like it. :)

Random shot of the hall. You gotta love sepia, eh?

I like doing my hair like this. :)

:)

So now: "Seven Tips For Making an Eye Appointment Less Boring."

1. Examine the over-than-life-sized pictures of the guys modelling glasses, and laugh at the amount of mascara they had to use to make them have such dark eye lashes.

2. Think how funny you must look bent over in the awkward angle with your chin on the little rest.

3. Seriously just relax and don't jump when the lady does the little "puff" of air on your eyes to measure some sort of pressure...'cause then she has to do it 5 times!

4. Smile at the cute little girl on a lady's lap across the way.

5. Be glad you brushed your teeth (and hope that the guy has too) when the doctor is up in your face shining a really bright light in your eyes. But don't laugh in his face when that thought comes to you. heh heh!

6. Let the sweet Aunty pick out your frames...you will be very happy, especially when the third pair was the one. It makes the trip a whole lot shorter! :)

7. When the really nice guy is making sure the frames fit, suddenly recall "Oh! This is the mohawked guy that  had to fix my old frames when this poor little deer-in-the-headlights 16 year old sat on them a year ago! Ha!"

Have a great week everyone! :)

March = TPG

We have been so busy this month! Classes, school, just plain busyness!

So, March is TPG

You know what that is?

No, it's not Three Prancing Gorillas, or Two Prissy Girls, or Trombone Playing Grieg...It's:
The Piano Guys

They have some of the coolest stuff! I really love them! This is my new favorite song currently. :) It's so me. The island beat, just such a happy song. :)

The month of March: don't act like starch!

Happy 1st of March everybody! This month I want us to consider the way we look to people.

Let's consider for a moment: starch. What does that make you think of? Of corn starch, by which you make things thick? Of eating too much potatoes which makes you fat? Or of ironing a dress shirt, where it looks crisp and clean? But remember, if you get too much starch on your shirt it can look bad...like you are wearing a stiff straightjacket.

Are our faces stiff?
A few mornings ago in Chapel, the director of the Preaching School asked one of the students, "Are you happy?"
"Yeah, I good," he replied.
"Well, remember to talk to your face about it."

How often do we go around looking as if someone had died, when we are fine and happy inside? The people here have really made me think. They often start a prayer with "Lord, thank you for life, health, and strength..." If we can say that we have life, health, and strength, then why aren't we smiling?
Are you alive? You're reading this, so I would assume that you are.
Are you healthy? If you're in the hospital dying from cancer or a disease, I guess that would mean you're not healthy. But I knew a dear person who was smiling to the last even though she died of cancer.
Do you have strength? Get up, run around the house, get a drink, make some food for yourself, pick up something heavy to put away...yeah, you've got strength!

So this is my encouragement today: If you have life, health, and strength, if you are happy, tell your face about it! Put a smile on your face! For real! :)

Have a wonderful day! Remember, don't let your face look like starch! :)

"I'm happy today, oh yes I'm happy today,
In Jesus Christ I'm happy today,
Because He's taken all my sins away,
And that's why I'm happy today."

:)

February = Football

February 29th...we only get to experience this every four years. Woop. Haha! No really, I can hardly believe that February is already finished! I guess I better get in my February post! heh heh!

Football here is called soccer in the USA. (Not arm-pit ball, which is football in the USA... :D )

This time was with the Students at the Preaching School. We played in the parking lot there at the building. I find I really enjoy watching it. :)

First of all, you move the old car that belongs to the neighbor out of the way.

Waiting to pick teams...

Levaughn...

Willem's ready to get this show on the road! :)

Waiting for some action, John?

Trying to get the ball out of the ditch...haha, yes, Trovel did end up on the ground...

Woo! Go Miles! Hit dat ball off yo chest!

Looks like Levaughn is about to do the splits!

Almost goal!

Wow, Nicholas, you don't have to drink the whole thing of water, boi!

Running...(Notice his awesome footwear: one is a regular shoe, and the other is an odd one with a sock over it.)

Woops!

Wey, Avery, sitting down on the job, eh?

I need to start wearing my socks like that! :)

That funny, eh, Kimani?

It looks like a Techno dance...haha.

Word. :)

Have I mentioned lately that I love life here? Well...in case you haven't heard...re-read this post. :)
<3

By the way, yes, I have played with them before, and I had the time of my life! I can actually beat some of the others at "defender." :D

Have a wonderful day! :)
